The extant St. Birgitta’s huva, of which I based my project on. This piece fascinates me, with all of it’s little details intact.
The cap itself was fairly simple to make – just a bit of a rounded shape, with the bottom gathered and a wide “brim” part on the front.

The complex part came when I began the delicate herringbone embroidery that holds the left and right sides of the cap together. This stage took quite a lot of guesswork and trial and error, but in the end I got it right.

After completing the herringbone, all that was left to do was the stitching along the front of the hat, and to apply the ribbon stays, and she was done!
